The University College of Dentistry (UCD) in collaboration with University of Health Sciences (UHS) and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) organized a workshop on October 2, 2019, titling as “Surgical Correction of Facial Deformities”. The workshop aimed to make the Post Graduate students and junior faculty members learn the latest surgical techniques and comprehensive management of the surgical cases.
A complicated case of correction of Temporomandibular Joints resulting into severe facial deformities was operated live by Prof. Dr. Andrew Edwards (Dean-Elect of the Faculty of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow), Prof. Dr. Moghees A. Baig (Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Dean University College of Dentistry) along with Prof. Dr. Nabila Riaz (Head of Maxillofacial Surgery Unit, Mayo Hospital Lahore) and broadcasted on Webinar Session.
After the live surgery, Prof. Edwards highlighted and demonstrated the current practices which are internationally adopted for correction of such deformities. He paid tribute to the UOL senior management team for providing the latest facilities at University of Teaching Hospital that can be used for complex surgical procedures.
The event was attended by Maxillofacial, Plastic and ENT surgeons from the dental fraternity and viewed by many more through the live streaming session which was followed by question-answer session. Prof. Edward presented five CME Hour certificates to the participants while Dean UCD presented a shield to Mr. Edward in recognition of his efforts.
