The Computer Science & Information Technology Dept. (CS&IT) organized the 17th Pak German Workshop on Field and Assistive Robots (WFAR-17) from October 17 to 19, 2019 with the aim to unfold new and exciting horizons of research in the field of Robotics. Well-known researchers from Pakistan, Germany, and USA participated in the workshop while experts from Agriculture, Food Security and Water Efficiency among Government, Industry and Academia were also invited to share their works.
The workshop included panel discussions, robotic project competition, research poster competition and robot race. On day one, tutorials were arranged for the students on different topics that included open CV, simulation and Robotics.
Dr. Asrar, Pro-Rector Engineering was the chief guest at the opening ceremony who highlighted the need for state-of-the-art technologies to be explored in Academics in Pakistan. Mr. Awais Raoof (Chairman BOG), officiated at the closing ceremony at which he welcomed the delegates and praised the research work of the guest speakers and promised full support for the future events.
All the speakers threw light on how robots are changing human lives, their role in future and its efficient use in different industries. While the research being conducted in field of robotics and contribution of Pakistan in research on robotics was also brought under discussion. After the academic sessions, the delegates also had an executive dinner at the Poet Restaurant.
