UOL students compete over feasible innovative business ideas under “Hult Prize” global initiative

In a bid to boost the soft and entrepreneurial skills of the students at UOL, The Incubation Hub in collaboration with the Office of Students Affairs (OSA) arranged a productive business ideas’ exhibition under “Hult Prize” global initiative on January 14-27, 2021.

Hult Prize has brought impact-focused programs in more than 2,000 college and university campuses in 121 countries creating a pathway for youth everywhere to take action in building a better world. It is recognized as a global leader in education, soft skills training, and entrepreneurial development for the 21st century.

The call for applications for this business idea contest started in January 14 till 24, 2021. Out of 100+ applications received, the technical team at IIC selected 10 teams from among the students offering Doctor of Diet and Nutritional Sciences (DDNS). The 10 teams were selected the basis of how feasible their innovative idea were and for how long the teams were willing to pursue it.

Mr. Agha Abdul Rehman (Head of IIC) supervised the training sessions for the teams on January 25, 2021 making polish their presentation skills and how to pitch their ideas in front of the jury members in six minutes.

Mughees Tahir (Program Manager, PlanX), Anum Naseem (Program Manager, NSPIRE, NETSOL), Waqas Shah (Marketing Manager NSPIRE, NETSOL), Tabinda Islam (PR Manager, CMACED, Superior) and Sufian Ahmad (Program Manager, Bahria Incubation Center) were the jury members assembled to review the business ideas.

The main event on January 27, 2021 started with briefing to the judges about the teams and their ideas. During the pitching exercise, all the teams presented their ideas before the judges in the allotted time and the top two teams i.e. Go, Glow, Grow and Nutra Shine were selected.

Mr. Nasir Mehmood (CEO Engineering Projects) officiated as guest of honor at the final round that was hosted by Mr. Abdul Rehman, (Head, The Incubation Hub).  After selecting the two best teams, judges were again asked to choose the best team and it was Go, Glow, Grow, that emerged as the winner of the contest.

At the closure, the guest of honor presented souvenirs to the jury members and the winning team followed by presentation of certificates to the organizers and IIC management team by Ms. Islam and Mr. Tahir respectively.
