Think Tanks Meet Over National Security Policymaking

Dr. Moeed Yusuf, Chairman Strategic Policy Planning Cell (SPPC), engaged all Lahore—based think tanks to share his vision for effective national security policymaking and the role of academics and think tank community in Pakistan on November 5, 2019 at the UOL’s Defence Road Campus.

Participants heading think tanks including Lahore Center for Peace Research (LCPR), Center for Public Policy and Governance (CPPG) and Indus News among others discussed and shared their thoughts on how best can think tanks help government devise and implement effective policies

Dr. Yusuf introduced the participants to the idea behind the establishment of SPPC and the mandate given by Prime Minister Imran Khan stressing the need for working in tandem with think tanks. He explained SPPC’s focus on bringing together stakeholders for garnering research-based input in national policymaking.

Director Centre for Security, Strategy, and Policy Research (CSSPR), Dr. Rabia Akhtar, on behalf of the UOL and CSSPR committed to extend full support to SPPC in its drive to improve government policymaking paradigm in order to make it more pro-people and tenable.
