The Society of Health and Nutrition Sciences (SHNA) in collaboration with Doctors Online and sponsorship from Blogs by Bilal Ahmed and Xdemy Global organized “E-Health Conference 2020” on November 2, 2020 at the UOL Defence Road Campus. The conference aimed at creating awareness about digital health services and career opportunities in the e-world.
More than 150 students and faculty members mainly from Allied Health Sciences were the part of the event. Madam Ammara Awais (Director OSA) was the guest of honor while Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Gillani (Dean of FAHS), Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad (Associate Dean and HOD UIPT) and Dr. Shahid Bashir (HOD UIDNS) were the chief guests of the conference.
Dr. Aafia Malik (Psychiatrist-Jinnah Hospital and Health Panelist-Doctor Online), Dn. Sadia Hanif (Clinical Nutritionist, Health Panelist-Doctor Online), Dn. Kiran Ashraf (Clinical Nutritionist, Dietetics and Health Panelist-Doctor Online), Dr. Bilal Ahmed (Diplomat in Cardiac Perfusion-Shifa International Hospital and Educational Center, Islamabad) and Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Raja (International Coach, Cooperate Trainer) were the guest speakers. Mr. Tausif Ahmed (Founder SHNA & CEO Umeed-E-Bashar Foundation) was also present.
This academic occasion kicked off with the welcoming remarks by Dr. Bashir who appreciated the team SHNA for organizing what he referred to as an educative and informative event for the participants.
Dr. Malik discussed how dietitians and physiatrists can work together in the treatment and management of eating disorders while Dn. Hanif addressed malnutrition and hunger. She shared valuable information regarding the effects of malnutrition and their management. She also interacted with the audience through a question-answer session.
Dn. Ashraf gave an elaborated introduction of e-health: its benefits, Tele-medicine, Tele-Education; and how Doctor Online is managing it for users and patients. She explained to the audience how a dietitians can help, manage and treat patients through e-health services.
Mr. Raja gave a motivational lecture in which he elucidated about the management of emotions, effects of mental well-being in people’s lives and how a person can cope up and manage himself in different situations.
Mr. Ahmed introduced his initiative named as “Doctor Online” and explained how it makes people’s lives easy and how it ensures quality health services’ provision.
A skit was also performed by SHNA’s Director Performing Art to entertain the audience. At the closure, shields and certificates were distributed among the guest speakers and participants respectively by Dr. Bashir, Dr. Ahmed and SHNA hierarchy.
While commenting on this event, Ms. Aqsa Shoukat (President SHNA) said: “As healthcare professionals, it’s our foremost duty to highlight the up-coming trends in the health domain. By organizing such an informative event, we aimed at providing awareness to the students of Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy & Medicine about this important and global trend”. She added that her society will always endeavor to organize such events which could be a source of learning and sharing of innovative ideas.
