Engr. Majid Ali (Lecture and Industrial Liaison Officer, Department of Electrical Engineering) participated in the 6th IEEE International Energy Conference (ENERGYCON) 2020 held on September 28-October 1, 2020, in both virtual and physical forms. Engr. Ali chaired an interactive session on the power systems in this session that covered a broad range of electric power and energy system topics.
The conference attracted over 200 multidisciplinary authors from more than 50 countries around the world, 1000+ participants mainly engineers and 20+ distinguished keynote speakers.
This year’s conference was organized by the IEEE Tunisia Section, IEEE Region 8, and IEEE Africa Council and co-sponsored by the IEEE Power and Energy Society, and IEEE Industry Applications Society, IEEE Power Electronics Society, and IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.
ENERGYCON provides an opportunity to scientists, professional engineers and engineering students to present their work, publish their results, exchange ideas and network for future scientific and industrial collaborations.
UNESCO regional conference
Engr. Ali, on October 19, 2020 also represented UOL at the International MFIT Sustainability Insight #22 branded as “Breaking the Barrier: Ensuring Inclusiveness and Connectivity Through Engineering’’. The conference that was physically hosted in Jakarta-Indonesia but also opened digitally to the rest of the world, was organized by UNESCO Regional Science Bureau for Asia and the Pacific.
With the aim to promote engineering profession/education, this online session hosted over 1000 participants from 50+ countries to discuss how the professionals can ensure inclusiveness and connectivity through the engineering field especially during the pandemic period.
Prof. Shahbaz Khan (Director, UNESCO Regional Science Bureau for Asia and the Pacific) moderated this huge event. Prof. Dr. Charlie Than (President, Myanmar Engineering Council), Dato’ Ir. (Dr.) Lee Yee Cheong (Commissioner, UN Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development) and Engr. Dr. Nasir Mahmood Khan (Registrar/ Secretary, Pakistan Engineering Council) attended the conference as chief guests.
