The Council of Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) has awarded Abdul Salam Prize in Basic Sciences (2019) in Chemistry for Young Scientists under 40 to Dr. Munawar Iqbal (Assistant Professor, Chemistry Department) in recognition of his outstanding research work in the subject.
In a letter dated November 19, 2019 signed by Prof. Dr. M. Aslam Baig (Secretary General, PAS), Dr. Iqbal was recognized and congratulated for the award. “Accept my heartiest congratulations on this well-deserved honor,” the letter reads in part. The award was presented to Dr. Iqbal on December 3, 2019 during the meeting of the PAS General Body in which his citation was also read out.
Dr. Iqbal who joined the UOL in 2016 after completing HEC-IPFP at the University of Peshawar, is an author and researcher with more than 300 articles (including seven book chapters) with cumulative impact factor greater than 350, h-index 36 and citation index of 4500.
He was the Best Researcher of the year 2017 at the UOL and emerged in the Second Position in 2018.
Dr. Iqbal, with a PhD from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, contributed 31 ISI impact factor publications in 2018 alone. The University of Lahore appreciated his research activities on December 13, 2019 with a certificate, shield and cash prize of PKR 175,000.
He is also a recipient of Research Productivity Awards by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST) for the years 2015 to 2018 and Highest Impact Factor Article Award (2017) by Chemical Society of Pakistan.
