The UOL’s Department of Technology is committed towards the mission of integrating the facility of practical learning for the students of Engineering and Technology. Under the umbrella of academia-industrial linkage, the Department signed memoranda of understanding with Sazgar and New Asia companies on November 14, 2019 aimed at providing internship programs, dissemination of results of the studies by solving bonafide problems and further job placement for Engineering and Technology students. Both Sazgar and New Asia are automobile industry and manufacturers of rikshaws and motorbikes.
Mr. Uzair Raoof (Deputy Chairmen BOG), Prof. Dr. Israr Ul Haq Sheikh (Pro-Rector Engineering and Technology), Prof. Dr. Waseem Nazar (HOD Technology), Mr. Nasir Nauman (Head of Industry Projects) signed the MoU on behalf of the UOL and Mr. Zubair (GM Sazgar), Mr. Ghulam Hussain (Technical Director) along with his Head of Corporate Mr. Safdar Bukhari represented Sazgar and New Asia.
While signing the MoU, Mr. Uzair referred to it as a step towards success saying, “This is a requirement of the modern era which is transforming rapidly and we need to move faster to catchup with the trends. By signing this MoU, we are adapting to the current trends”.
Dr. Israr recalled the early days of learning when he was sharing his personal experience as a student. “As a University, we are focused on providing an ideal opportunity for the students to develop their technical skills in a constructive way,” he added.
Both companies exalted the efforts of the UOL and promised to fulfil all the clauses of the MoU aimed at integrating technology in R&D. “My desire has always been seeing this integration of theory and practice as a pattern of education in Pakistan. I am happy that the UOL has done it,” Mr. Zubair said. He further stated, “Our students need to be moved in the direction of research and development if we want to contribute to the success of the country”.
