College of Dentistry sets up diagnostic camp on World Oral Health Day

The University College of Dentistry (UCD), UOL celebrated World Oral Health Day following the COVID-19 recommended SOPs on March 17-18, 2021.

In this regard, the Department of Community & Preventive Dentistry, UCD in collaboration with GSK and Martin Dow held a short camp for diagnosing patients of sensitivity among dental staff, students, and faculty.

The aim of the two-day activity was to create awareness of maintaining good oral hygiene and diagnosing causes of dental pain and hypersensitivity. More than 200 sensitivity tests were conducted and free samples of oral hygiene maintenance tools were distributed among the participants.

Best Smile Competition was also organized among the house surgeons and postgraduate trainees. Dr. Sehar Shrafat (House Surgeon) and Dr. Arslan Sajid (Post Graduate Trainee, MDS) were declared as the winners by the panel of judges that included Dr. Wajeeha Alamgir (Associate Professor), Dr. Shahzad Waheed (Associate Professor), Dr. Arooj ul Hassan (Associate Professor) and Dr. Muhammad Hassan (Associate Professor). The winners were awarded with certificates and gifts by Professor Rehan Qamar (Head of Department, Orthodontics).

Prof. Moghees A. Baig (Dean and Principal, UCD) and Dr. Muhammad Aslam (Medical Superintendent, University Dental Hospital) lauded the activity and highlighted the importance of World Oral Health Day in this era of pandemic.
